It’s 2050, a decade after a heatwave that killed four hundred million across the Persian Gulf, including journalist Marcus Tully’s wife. Now he must uncover the truth: was the disaster natural? Or is the weather now a weapon of genocide?

A whistle-blower pulls Tully into a murder investigation at the centre of an election battle for a global dictator, with a mandate to prevent a climate apocalypse. A former US President campaigns against the first AI politician for the position, but someone is trying to sway the outcome.

Tully must convince the world to face the truth and make hard choices about the future of the species. But will humanity ultimately choose salvation over freedom, whatever the cost?

A thought-provoking, intelligent thriller.

Your fears around technology and AI’s won’t disappear as you read this incredibly clever novel. Thomas Weaver has written what I can only describe as a modern classic. Modern in the sense of so incredibly current. The ever growing use of AI, its integration into society and the evolution of such technology is prominent in life today and isn’t going away. It’s scary. If you couple this with the ever present environmental destruction by humanity, you are presented with a terrifying story that has all potential to actually happen…and quite frankly, IS happening.

Thomas captures the emotions of his characters with impeccable skill for a debut novel. Each of the characters are rich and varied and each provide a freshness to each chapter. He even manages to maintain the technological portrayal of the AI, Solomon, whilst slowly developing his ‘humanity’. The development of the human characters are equally impressive. My particular favourite is the evolution of Livia from a shy, timid seeming person to one with so much confidence and power.

A captivating story which blends genres and bends the norms expected of a thriller. Imagine a crime thriller, mixed with a political assassination plot, a climate disaster and a human emotion story… all this and more are to be found in Artificial Wisdom by Thomas Weaver. The twists are delightful and plentiful. The characterisation rich and beautifully developed. I implore you to add this to your read list for RIGHT NOW. Not for a TBR, this needs reading now. Thomas Weaver will have you looking at your real life political allegiances and revaluating your environmental outlook. Artificial Wisdom is out now and hopefully the AI’s you interact with daily…don’t start getting TOO human…that would be scary? Right?

Thank you Literally PR and Thomas Weaver for the gifts and the advanced hardback and eBook. It has been a pleasure.
